In order to arrive at what you are not
You must go through the way in which you are not.
And what you do not know is the only thing you know
And what you own is what you do not own
And where you are is where you are not.
T. S. ELLIOT, The east cooker

Poetry is very ambiguous, it's like reading your horoscope. There's usually something for everyone. What Eliot says is true, in order to be reborn and find who you really are you must go through a process where you see your dark side-that side of us we don't know, and we only know ourselves by seeing what we are not. I guess it's a paradox, but a wonderful metaphor for people who don't explore.
